Anna Kell is an artist and associate professor of studio art at Bucknell University, located in Lewisburg, PA. Kell states, “For my virtual exhibition at the Chesapeake Gallery, I have brought together a range of works that reflect my interest in exploring cultural attitudes toward the natural world. My process often begins with the collection and creative appropriation of decorative, domestic cast-offs like sofas, mattresses, and footstools. I collect and analyze the surface imagery of these artifacts, bringing into focus a relationship between the idealization of nature and our disconnection from the real thing.
